Our mission is to glorify God by introducing individuals to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, nurturing them in the Christian faith and equipping them for personal ministry in the power of God and the Holy Spirit.
In the early 1900’s, a little wooden church sat in a wooded area in Orange Bend, Florida. This church was known as Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. In its inception, Mount Zion was respectively pastored by three pastors. Reverend Brown, Reverend Morgan and Reverend Goodman. Upon the departure of Reverend Goodman, God sent Reverend B.J. Solomon to pastor the flock of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
In 1924, the pastor and members decided to move the church to a new location. The church was placed on logs and pulled by mules. It was a long, hard journey, but with God’s help the church was erected on its present location. Reverend Solomon pastored this church for forty-seven years. Upon the demise of Reverend Solomon, the Lord sent Reverend S. L. Leeks, who served as pastor for seventeen years.
In November of 1973, God sent another Shepherd in the person of Reverend W. L. Fields, Jr. For many years the members of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church dreamed of building a new sanctuary. It was not an easy task, however, with God’s help, the leadership of Reverend Fields, love and guidance of the Holy Spirit, hard work, assistance from other churches, organizations, and friends, the dream became a reality. In 1975, this current edifice was erected and in 1980 the members of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church proudly held its dedicatory service. Reverend Fields served as pastor for 23 years.
In 1996, the Lord sent us another Shepherd, Reverend Othelia Roberson Brown, who served us for four years. Minister Charlotte Hines was serving as Co-Pastor during this time, and upon Reverend Brown’s health related resignation, Minister Hines immediately stepped in to serve as shepherd over the flock. During Pastor Hines tenure, the name of the church was changed to Mount Zion Full Gospel Baptist Church. Pastor Charlotte Hines faithfully served as Pastor for 23 years.
In this season, God has given us another anointed shepherd, Reverend Dennis L. Nash. His primary mission is to fulfill the call of God on his life, which is to proclaim the uncompromising Word of God. Under Rev. Nash’s leadership, the name of the church is now known as Mount Zion Full Gospel Church (MZFGC), a non-denominational ministry that heals the broken back to wholeness. Reverend Nash comes with a vision to uplift the family and provide ministry to the total man. We look forward to following him as he follows Christ. All glory to God for the things He has done!
